New Releases

It’s been a while, but we are stoked to finally have three new releases out today. They are all 7 inches in diameter, all UK bands of different styles that we hope you will enjoy. One is the Abandon Ship – Of Time’s Turning Wheel four track 7”, our limited to 100 Dire version of which has been available for a couple weeks, containing the band’s classic raw and desperate hardcore that we think deserves a special unveiling. Another is the latest banger from The Love Triangle, a primordial three-dicked beast that tells of a Boomerang Girl, and finally the swansong from The Sceptres, a twisted, harrowing post-punk anomaly, this single is their goodbye record, two weird songs from four weird kids. We will have a few of these records at the Inservibles gig in London Tonight.

Here’s the skinny:

THE LOVE TRIANGLE – BOOMERANG GIRL 7” £4.00  Listen here

“Brand new single from this excellent English combo featuring a couple of Shitty Limits. Like their earlier tapes and single, these two songs combine the frantic energy of early punk like the Buzzcocks with the tossed-off quality of 60s Nuggets comps and a killer raw 4-track recording. I dare you to listen to this single and not be chanting “booma booma booma RANG! RANG! RANG! RANG!” for days afterwards. Includes an intriguing cover of a Kasenatz Katz classic. Complete with psyched-out acidic artwork unlike anything you’ve seen before. (US distribution by Sorry State Records) Order Here

THE SCEPTRES – CHILDSPLAY 7” £4.00

 Listen here

“Final 7” from this British post-punk band featuring some familiar faces. While their earlier recordings had an upbeat, jerky sound somewhere between X-Ray Spex and the rawer early post-punk bands, these final two songs from the band are downbeat, dirgey, and downright depressing. You still get Ralph’s trademark weird guitar, but the emphasis here is on the dark atmosphere and brooding melodies. It’s a shame they’re done, as these two songs show an intriguing and unique change in direction. RIP The Sceptres.” (US distribution by Sorry State) Order here

ABANDON SHIP – OF TIME’S TURNING WHEEL 7” £3.50

Listen here

This new four song 7” by Abandon Ship picks up where their last material left off some three years ago. For the unitiated, this Brighton-based band rang rings around the unimaginative slop-pile that hardcore in the UK had become in the mid 2000s, upping the stakes for all. This record is the output of a temporary reformation before the band went their separate ways to new projects and continents. It contains four more ferocious, livid hardcore punk ragers that take the meditative hardness of genuine greats like Burn, Inside Out or Damnation AD and fuse that with extra switched-on punk bile. This is a co-release with our friends at Carry the Weight records, and the band themselves, and is limited to 100 copies. Order here
